St. Andrew's School Job Description

The mission of St. Andrew’s School is to transform lives by providing quality, progressive education to children from families with limited financial resources through a full scholarship for every child.

Intern Responsibility and Skills:

1.  Desire to work with elementary aged children (grades K - 5)

2.  Anticipated responsibilities include:
     a.  Assistance in K - 5 classrooms; aiding teachers in working 
     one-on-one and/or with small groups of children, administrative
     tasks (copying, bulletin boards, computer tasks, etc.) as needed;
     supervision of students at before-school time (requires a 7:30 a.m.
     start of the workday)
     b.  Playground supervision (particularly 7:45 - 8:10 a.m.)
     c.  Whole group organization techniques (7:30 - 8:10 a.m.)
     d.  Occasional weekend responsibilities: e.g. Learn to Dream,
      Bazaar, Mother/Daughter, Boys 2 Men, Fun, Run, Go!,
      Discover Richmond

2.  Desired skill set:
     a.  Empathy and responsiveness with regard to student issues
     and behaviors
     b.  Employment of loving discipline techniques
     c.  Positive interactions with faculty and staff
     d.  Ability and interest in a wide range of areas of engagement
     (classroom, playground, office, kitchen)
     e.  Being a positive role model for students and families
     f.  Willingness to engage the St. Andrew's School community
     with enthusiasm

3.  Physical demands:  multiple stairs in building (no elevators), ability
and interest in engaging in active play with students outdoors or indoor
gym area
