Vestry Nomination Form

About Vestry Service

The vestry is the governing body of an Episcopal church. Its roles and responsibilities are outlined in the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, some of which are described below. St. Andrew’s is currently led by a vestry consisting of 8 members, including the parish priest, who serves as chair. New members are generally elected each year to serve a 3-year term. The treasurer provides financial oversight and guidance to the vestry but is not a voting member. The officers of the vestry include the senior warden, junior warden, and register (clerk of the vestry). Vestries are considered full partners with their clergy in the leadership of the church.

Criteria for Vestry Eligibility:
• Individuals must be “confirmed adult communicants in good standing of the church”:

3. Has received Holy Eucharist at St. Andrew's at least three times during the preceding year
4. Is known to the treasurer to have made an identifiable financial contribution in support of the parish and its ministries during the preceding year

• Properly support the clergy and the programs of the church through service and stewardship

• Attend the annual vestry orientation retreat on a Saturday in February
• Participate regularly in Sunday worship, and assist the clergy, staff, and other parishioners as needed
